Using Noise to Create Quick Glitter
This tutorial was written by Ellie for Glitter Geeks graphics forum. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental. Please do not repost on any other forum or website without permission.
Open a new image, 400x150.
In your materials pallet, set your foreground to a dark color and your background to a lighter color.
Select your text tool. Click here to see the settings I've used. Now click inside your canvas, and type in your text, then click apply.
Go to Objects > Align > center in canvas. Then Layers > Convert to raster. Now delete Raster 1 in your layers pallet.
Now go to Layers > Duplicate. Repeat so that you now have three layers in your Layers pallet.
Select your magic wand. Click here to see the settings I've used. You may want to try experimenting with the settings youself to adjust them to your liking, these are just my preferences.
Now click inside your text, on the lighter color so that it is all selected, but the outline is not.
Go to Adjust > Add/remove noise > Add noise. Apply the settings below and click OK.
Again, feel free to play with the settings to see if you prefer it done a little differently.
In your layers pallet, click on your second layer. Repeat the noise, but this time increase it to 48%. Do the same with your third layer, increasing the noise to 51%.
Go to Selections > Select none.
All done! If you don't know how to animate it, keep reading...
Open your file up in Animation Shop, click File > Save and save it as a gif file.
All done! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Let me know if you have any questions, problems, etc and I'll try to help you out.
You can also just use the noise settings on three plain colored images about 100x100 pixels to make your own glitter tiles.
Then try adding sparkles (I suggest using VM Natural Sparkles. You can download the plugin for them free here.)
